I’ve been MIA on this account for some time now I’ve been MIA on this account for some time now - mainly because moving across the country has been a much bigger adjustment than I anticipated! I still don’t exactly feel ‘settled’ and it’s nearly been a year. I can’t believe it. I’ll give everyone a lil’ update. When I took these photos back in May of 2022, I had already decided to move to Austin. I was so excited, nervous, but I couldn’t wait for a fresh start. Now it’s been 10 months in my new city. To be vulnerable, it’s been maybe the hardest 10 months of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love Austin, and can’t wait to continue my life here but I do miss the simplicity of life in Green Bay. Finding my ‘career’ here has been my biggest struggle. I’ve been so torn for months on which direction I want to pursue. I’ve been job hunting for months on end, and if anyone can relate it’s been just as awful as it sounds. Job scams, ghosting, & soooo many interviews. (Ps. I’m looking for a job in marketing) Unfortunately companies hiring don’t care that you ran a business for 7 years. 🤣 There’s a massive stereotype surrounding photography, it’s always been looked at as “a fun side gig.” Which has been a huge disadvantage when trying to pitch myself. I‘ve been asked so many times why I don’t continue my business here, and truthfully it’s so overwhelming to even think about starting a business in a new place. BUT despite that, I’ve finally decided to take on the challenge of being at the bottom of the totem pole again 😂. Even if it is just a “fun side gig” for me. So I’ll be attempting to promote my senior photography here in Austin a bit more. SO if you’re a high school or college senior graduating in 2024 in Austin or surrounding suburbs - I’m your girl!!
