Pulaski High School Senior Portraits, Megan Bryfczynski – Carlee Secor Photography

Fall is HERE! and this session totally brings all the fall colors out! I was so excited, we had the most beautiful day for senior pictures for Megan. I’ve been really lucky with sunny days this past September with pretty golden hour light! She brought her Nana and Mom to her session and we shared some good laughs and Nana even helped be my assistant for the evening holding my reflector and all 🙂

We started off her session downtown Green Bay and headed to my favorite field where the fall colors were in full force! Excited to share, as always 🙂 Enjoy!

FINDING THE BEST LIGHT FOR PORTRAITS – Carlee Secor Photography Green Bay, WI Photographer

1.Find a location you love and know. SO many times people wonder why they can’t achieve this look is because the location likely blocks all the beautiful golden light from coming through at all, or doesn’t block it enough.

2.Pay attention to where the sun sets, scout the location beforehand and make note of what time the sun is low enough. In June, the sun is setting directly in the west, where in October/Late September the sun is shifting slightly to the left.

3.Watch for the sun “spots” to hit the ground. Look on the grass and see where the sun is falling, if there are no trees in the background, this will not happen and you will have to wait closer to sunset to get the desired look. For example, this shot here was taken 10 minutes before sunset because there are no trees on the golf course. If the background would’ve had a lot of trees, I would’ve had to shoot their portraits earlier so the sun could fall through the trees.

Guest Post – Kaela Gedda Ontological Life Coach – Carlee Secor Photography

Hi Carlee fans– I’m Kaela, a green juice slurping, Pure Barre junkie, Ontological Life Coach.

Onto-what? Basically, I work with rock star entrepreneurs who are committed to living juicy, fully expressed lives. A life coach is someone who supports, holds space, and whistle blows for people who are interested in living their dream life on their terms. My work is rooted in co-creating success by design from a place of possibility.

Ontology is the study of being, this is the school of coaching that I am trained in. Not only are my clients and I partnering to achieve the tangible results they want, but also we’re constantly working behind the scenes to create that by being our highest and greatest selves. Read: no room for limiting beliefs about not being enough, too much, doing it wrong, etc.

HOW I GREW MY BUSINESS IN 6 MONTHS – Carlee Secor Photography

I often get asked how my business started and how I got into photography, I told this entire story on another blog post (my photography journey) but for the business side of things I wanted to go into a bit more detail.

I was really fortunate to be able to be a full-time photographer right away, things really took off and I took a risk of not finding another job but rather focused mainly on growing my business. Remember, I have no children so I did not need to make big bucks to support myself. Bare minimum was fine with me as long as I was having fun, which I was!

My business really took off the end of July, so I only had until the end of October to photograph seniors. I was slammed, I was too cheap, overwhelmed and extremely busy. I was happy I was doing what I loved, truly, but take my advice and don’t overbook yourself. I took 40 sessions (I think 32 were seniors) from end of July to October 27th. So I was shooting/editing every day. This year was MUCH more spaced out and organized.

Drugans Castle Mound, Jocelyn & JJ – Carlee Secor Photography

Jocelyn booked me for her wedding on New Year’s Eve! I was so excited as her wedding sounded beautiful, they valued photography the most and I was so honored they chose me. They got married at Drugan’s Castle Mound in Holmen, Wisconsin. Which was quite the drive for me but it was such a perfect day for a wedding – despite being 93 degrees, anything is better than rain 🙂
JJ and Jocelyn went to the same high school.  He was two years than Jocelyn, and they never spoke all four years! Fast forward 15 years and they saw each other at a basketball game at our old high school.  Jocelyn happened to be on another date at that time, but he stopped and said hello. A few weeks later JJ reached out and asked Jocelyn out. Obviously, it was a yes and within a month of hanging out, she knew he was the one.

Bay Port High School Senior Portraits, Grace Steward – Carlee Secor Photography

I’ve been a bit behind on blogging, so I’m sharing a few sessions here and there. This GORGEOUS senior session is from earlier this month and we had the most beautiful day to shoot. Oddly enough it was quite cold compared to how it is now (80-90 degrees!). But I always say it’s better to be a bit cold than sweating 🙂 We still had beautiful golden hour light so I can’t complain!

Grace wore the prettiest dress for her last outfit of the evening and I think it’s obvious those ended up being the favorites from her session! I’m a huge fan of all the images, enjoy 🙂

Eagle River, WI Wedding, Mackenzie & Nick – Carlee Secor Photography

Mackenzie & Nick celebrated their marriage on the 16th and it couldn’t have been more beautiful. I drove up to eagle river (probably the most beautiful part of Wisconsin) the drive was so gorgeous with the fall colors and trees everywhere!

Mackenzie reached out to me months ago with a vision for her wedding day that perfectly matched my style. I’m a huge fan of outdoor weddings, tall pines, candles, up north and their wedding was exactly that. I couldn’t believe how fast time has flown, Nick and Mackenzie met with me in January of this year for me to shoot their engagement session in the FREEZING cold and they didn’t complain once! Thankfully we had an incredibly sunny day with not a single cloud in the sky for their wedding 🙂

The love that surrounded Mackenzie & Nick this day was absolutely incredible, I only cried probably 15 times. It was so emotionally overwhelming (in a good way), and I’m lucky to have been able to capture it all. It’s so amazing seeing how many people drove to be there for Mackenzie, Nick & Callum.
