It’s about time I blog this session! Finally getting around to my work from when it was warm and beautiful. Stephanie & Jerry booked me earlier this summer & we had their engagement session early October in the blazing heat! Their day was so warm – but I’m not complaining because we had the most beautiful light for their session! We met at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve in Howard and it was perfect timing with so many fall colors just peaking out for the season.
Stephanie and Jerry are getting married on the most popular wedding day of the year (I swear) 8/18/18 at my favorite venue in Hortonville called Whistlers Knoll. It actually brings back some memories because it is where I second shot my first wedding ever with Lionheart Photography. Isn’t that crazy?! Anyways, I’m pretty excited to go back, its so beautiful there.read more
1. Investing in gear I wasn’t sure of
We all start somewhere, and it can be frustrating and confusing buying gear while not knowing if it is what you need. I went to a local camera shop to buy my first camera, I knew this was what I wanted to do as my career – and I was willing to spend the money. Unfortunately, I bought a semi-professional camera with a terrible lens. If I could go back and tell myself what to buy, It would be a used Nikon d750 and a used 50mm 1.4 lens. It would’ve been in my budget at the time which was 2,000. Now I understand not everyone wants to “go big or go home” but I ended up selling the semi-professional camera (Nikon d7100) two months later and buying my first d750, and never touching my d7100 again. The camera lost value the second I purchased it, although it was hardly used.
If you’re wondering why I regret not buying the 750 right away is because it is a full frame camera & I love the low light capabilities. I encourage everyone to try out lenses they may like, or camera bodies. Ask your favorite photographer what they use and do some research to see if it’s the fit for you!read more
Another super late post, but I’m so happy to post these! I can’t not share! Sydnie booked me months ago for her late September date, and its so hard to believe how fast time has flown! She had a gorgeous sunny day, and I really think her session was right when the fall colors really started to show! Her hair and makeup was done by the very talented Victoria from Belleza Hair & Makeup Artistry.
We stayed downtown De Pere for the first half of her session and headed to Fon Ferek for the rest. On the way I almost hit a deer, thankfully I didn’t – but I was so close. The light was beautiful! I loved Sydnie’s session, and working with her and her mom was so much fun.

I’ve known Naomi for years now and it’s so crazy to see that shes engaged! Seems like just yesterday she met Cole and I’m so happy for them both. Their entire session was them laughing, which is NOT a bad thing considering all the adorable photos I got from it. We started off in Downtown Green Bay then headed to De Pere for the more nature-y, cozy shots. Naomi is so good at hair/makeup/styling that I knew she would look absolutely gorgeous for their session! Be sure to check her out at The Bee Hive Salon in De Pere!
I love all their images from their shoot and I’m so excited to share a bit more than I already have! Enjoy 🙂read more
